Once you start your fundraise, you'll receive questions and document requests from investors. Data rooms help you track and share material but with our MCP integration, you can work with AI assistants to respond to these questions on the fly.
This playbook walks through ways to optimize your process while speaking with multiple investors.
Step 1: Review the investor pipeline
Goal
Prioritize your process with engaged investors.
Ask your assistant
“Review my investor pipeline in Pulse. Show me which investors are actively engaging, who is engaging the most vs cooling down, and who I should prioritize this week.”
Use Pulse to review
- Investors ranked by activity engagement: hot, warm, cold, etc.
- Track new investors or more team members joining diligence
- Documents or topics receive more attention
- Investors who may need a follow-up
Step 2: Prepare for an investor meeting
Goal
Be prepared for the follow ups a fund may ask.
Ask your assistant
“Prepare me for my meeting with Northstar. What topics have they focused on, what changed since our last conversation, and do they have all the current supporting materials?”
Use Pulse to identify
- Which members of the fund are spending time and returning frequently
- The themes, documents and pages receiving the most time
- Supporting material to share additionally with investors
- Ensure all material is up to date (use your AI assistant to update material if not current)
Why?
This is your opportunity to preemptively prepare for common questions with other investors and come to the table prepared and up to date to run your fundraise more efficiently (get back more time to focus on building).
Step 3: Respond to follow up questions
Goal
Respond with direct references and reuse material for future conversations.
Ask your assistant
“Prepare a response to this diligence question using the materials in Pulse. Reuse any material we already have, identify the strongest supporting material, and flag anything missing or inconsistent.”
The assistant can use Pulse to
- Retrieve relevant information and citations for the drafted response
- Identify additional material that would help
- Prepare files connected to your AI assistant for review, then add the updated or new material to Pulse to share
Step 4: Turn the answer into a reusable package
Goal
Avoid recreating the same work for every fund as every diligence requests makes the next one easier.
Reuse the underlying material. To move the process forward, create investor-specific or diligence related links, not investor-specific copies of every document. Manage individual investors in Pulse under contacts.
Ask your assistant
“Create a reusable Pulse folder for this question and organize the current answer and supporting materials inside.”
Example Pulse folder
Customer Retention and Expansion
- Retention and Expansion FAQ
- Customer Cohort Analysis
- Q2 Cohort and Forecast Commentary
If relevant material exists in other applications or the current file needs fresher numbers, customer information, etc., ask the AI assistant to pull from connected sources, prepare the approved update, and bring the current file into Pulse.
Step 5: Use momentum to move the process forward
Goal
Align the process across all investor conversations during the same timeline. Each investor activity should make you decide the next action for that fund and across the rest of the pipeline.
Prompt
“Which investors reviewed the follow-up materials. What should I do next with them and which other investors should I encourage to engage? Which has received more material and are further along the review?”
What Pulse returns
- Focus on the fund’s with more engagement or at similar diligence stages
- Warming investors who may be ready for more diligence
- Cooling investors who need a timely follow-up
Next move
Keep investors moving with a focused follow-up on the topics receiving attention. At the same time, use momentum in the process to encourage other interested funds to take their next step.
- Share a newly prepared diligence package with another active fund.
- Follow up on an unanswered document request.
- Schedule the next meeting while interest is current.
- Move responsive investors toward a clear decision point.
Run the process, not just the data room
Pulse gives founders one place for the investor pipeline, company materials, reviewed diligence answers, secure sharing, and the engagement that follows.
MCP makes that system available from the AI assistant the founder already uses.
Review the pipeline. Prepare current materials. Answer the question. Reuse the work. Share the next step.
Run a tighter investor diligence process with Pulse.
